WARNING!!!

On-Line Bank Fraud Alert!

Chief Dennis Moffett and the Mount Laurel Police Department recommend exercising the utmost caution when replying to any unsolicited emails purporting to be from banks or other financial institutions.

  1. BE SUSPICIOUS

  2. DO NOT CLICK ON ANY ATTACHED LINKS

  3. DO NOT PROVIDE ANY PERSONAL DATA

  4. DO NOT RESPOND TO UNSOLICITED “FRAUD ALERTS”

Often such emails are an attempt to redirect the unsuspecting victim to a bogus but official looking website where they are duped into providing account information and passwords. On-line banks do not send such requests to your email. Always check with your bank customer service representative.

Do not assume that because you get an email from a company or a bank that it is legitimate.

If you think your account has been compromised, don’t panic, immediately contact the bank or lending institution to report it.

Most banking institutions have a zero liability guarantee for customers, but the customers must notify the bank within a specified time frame.
